While Erick was in college he started personal training at different gyms throughout San Francisco; by the time he graduated from San Francisco State University he had built a successful practice and had a waiting list of clients.

Now with a decade of experience in the fitness industry, Erick has trained and designed exercise programs for hundreds of clients at San Francisco's most reputable health clubs and gyms, including The San Francisco Bay Club, Gold's Gym, Golden Gateway Tennis and Swim Club, The Telegraph Hill Club, Market Street Gym and World's Gym.

Erick was the creator and founder of the media-grabbing Website MyWorkoutPartner.com, a virtual training tool that attracted clients from around the globe as well as a great deal of media attention. The Website had over 200 Web pages and included an extensive exercise library, all written by Erick. In 2005, under contract with the Haworth Press, Erick closed down MyWorkoutPartner.com, took a break from personal training, and moved to Florida to focus on writing his bestselling book, Muscle Boys: Gay Gym Culture.
